Job summary

BayMark Health Services in Kansas is seeking a compassionate Substance Use Counselor to support patients through medically assisted programs, conduct group and individual sessions, and help with crisis management and coping strategies.

The role collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists to coordinate care, completes assessments, develops treatment and aftercare plans, and ensures documentation in the EMR system.

Qualifications

• Kansas licensure as T-LAC/LAC/LMAC/LCAC is required.
• Consideration for LMFT/LCMFT/LMLP/LCP/LPC/LCPC/LMSW/LSCSW with addiction-specific training (transcripts/CEUs/on-the-job).
• Experience working with chemically dependent individuals.
• Positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients.
• Understanding of EMR systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and eligibility interviews.
• Facilitate and review initial treatment plans with patients.
• Provide individual and group counseling; coordinate services throughout treatment.
• Complete Bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Involve families in recovery when possible.
• Develop individual or group teaching projects for patients.
• Respond to patient grievances and complaints.
• Develop discharge and aftercare plans; complete discharge paperwork.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compassionate Substance Use/Addition Counselor Needed!

Substance Use counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for best overall outcome.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects
• Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints.
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans. Completes all discharge paperwork.
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications

• Kansas issued T-LAC, LAC, LMAC or LCAC required
• Kansas issued LMFT, LCMFT, LMLP, LCP, LPC, LCPC, LMSW and LSCSW will be considered but must provide proof of addiction specific training through transcript, CEU’s or on the job training.
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
