Job summary

Omaha Public Schools Liberty Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a Paraprofessional - Library to support students and staff during the school year. The position runs August through May when school is in session, with a starting wage of $19.10 per hour and a 6.5-hour day.

Responsibilities include managing circulation, shelving, assisting with digital resources, helping with displays, tutoring students, and ensuring library privacy and proper records.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours, or proven proficiency via competency test.
• Regular, punctual attendance required.
• Ability to shelve items using Dewey and alphabetical order with high accuracy.
• Knowledge of online catalogs, circulation and research databases.
• Experience in school/public library helpful.

Responsibilities

• Distribute resources through the online circulation system and manage barcodes.
• Prepare bibliographies and reports using digital and print resources.
• Remove materials for librarian review per established protocols.
• Check in/out materials and ensure records and labels match.
• Assist with marketing displays and library announcements.
• Assist students and staff in locating information in print and digital resources.
• Supervise students in the library.
• Assist with inventory and prepare discarded materials for pickup.
