Job summary

HTU in Maryland is seeking a Library Media Specialist to provide learning experiences for students, supervise in various settings, and monitor outcomes. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and MSDE Library Media Specialist certification, with experience per Maryland law and BOE policy.

The position is within a 10-month term with exempt status and salary scale detail available on the county’s salary scales webpage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and MSDE Library Media Specialist certification required.
• Other experience as established by Maryland Law and Board of Education policy.
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Exemplary human relations, organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Supervising students in various school-related settings.
• Monitoring and evaluating student outcomes.
• Communicating and interacting with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
• Creating an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Maintaining and improving professional competence.
• Keeping appropriate records and following required procedures.
• Monitoring proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintaining regular, on-time attendance.
• Serving on special committees.
• Performing other duties as prescribed by Maryland State Law, Board of Education policy, Negotiated Agreement, and Building Principal.
