Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District in Altoona, IA is seeking a Library Media Clerk to support the middle school media center. Hours are 7:15am-2:45pm, with a Wednesday schedule, and location at the middle school.

The role involves assisting students and staff, maintaining the library collection, and coordinating AV materials under the district librarian guidance. Strong interest in library services and children’s literature is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain library collection at direction of district librarian.
• Assist students in finding appropriate materials.
• Assist teaching staff in securing appropriate reference materials.
• Under the direction of district's librarian, assist students in use of the media center.
• Keep abreast of student literature materials in consultation with teaching staff.
• Assist teaching staff in securing AV equipment and materials.
• Provide minor maintenance on AV equipment.
• Maintain library area as a functional teaching center.
• Maintain library inventory.
• Recommend additions or deletions to the library collection.
• Book briefs for the reading rooms.
• Assist with seventh grade orientation for students.
• Library instruction within units of study.
• Provide an appropriate role model for the students.
• Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Goal: To provide media center assistance to students and teachers for a district dedicated to being an innovative, educational organization committed to providing learning experiences of superior quality which enable ALL students to successfully meet challenges now and in the future

Performance Responsibilities
