Job summary

Arabia Mountain High School in the DeKalb County School District is seeking a Library Media Assistant to support the curriculum through media resources and to foster students’ love of reading and technology.

The role involves assisting with locating materials, helping teachers with lesson plans, and managing inventory in the Library Media Center (LMC). This is an entry-level position with supervision and opportunities to contribute to school programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 0–3 years of related experience or an Associate degree in Library Science, Information Studies, Education, or a related field with some relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with locating, checking out, and returning media materials.
• Provide information and assistance to students and teachers as appropriate.
• Maintain and organize library collections, including shelving, displays, and cleanliness.
• Support classroom activities by managing library software resources and assisting with lesson plans.
• Perform administrative tasks including financial records for fines, copy funds, and inventory control.
• Operate and troubleshoot library tech equipment and distribute instructional devices.
• Collaborate with teachers to promote reading and literacy programs within copyright rules.
• Conduct workshops to facilitate effective use of library resources.
• Monitor library operations in the absence of the Teacher-Librarian.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
