Job summary

Illumen Group is seeking a Library Support Backend Developer to support the NAL Library Services platform for USDA ARS. You will work on the Library Support System, enhancing the PubAg API and related microservices using Python, Django, GraphQL, and REST APIs, while ensuring secure, maintainable, and compliant software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience developing substantial applications using database technologies (SQL Server, MySQL), Python, Django, GraphQL and REST APIs, and Linux CLI.
• Experience with modern development standards and refreshing legacy systems.
• Experience with open-source tools and containerization.

Responsibilities

• Provide development to enhance automated workflow processing by implementing new features and enhancing existing features.
• Develop and maintain updates for system architecture diagrams, API interfaces, and data models.
• Participate in scrums and project meetings as needed for specific projects.
• Check code into the USDA GitHub enterprise repositories regularly and keep issues up to date.
• Assist in creating estimates for project requirements and timelines.
• Analyze, mitigate, and document security risks identified by the Cyber Support Team.
• Document changes, deployments, and procedures per ARS Azure ATO.
• Follow USDA and federal playbooks and ensure Section 508 compliance for ICT deliverables.
• Adhere to change control and configuration management procedures and respond to tickets.
• Build maintainable applications and identify potential cost savings for hosting and support.
