City of Laredo is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to greet and assist library patrons, check materials in and out using the automated circulation system, collect fines, register patrons and maintain records.
The role includes shelving materials, assisting with library programs and social media updates, handling cashier duties, and providing friendly customer service with the ability to work evenings and weekends; reporting to the Joe A. Guerra Library.
Greets and assists Library patrons. Uses automated circulation system to check Library materials in/out in accordance with established Library policies and procedures. Collects and records fines and fees, registers patrons, and updates patron records. Shelves and maintains library materials. Assists with Library programs. This position will report to the Joe A. Guerra Library and will be scheduled to assist with systemwide coverage as needed. This position must maintain the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Scheduled hours/days, job locations, is subject to change.

Applicants who have completed education outside of the United States must submit a foreign credential evaluation completed by a professional credential evaluation agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). The evaluation must verify the U.S. equivalency of the degree and identify the comparable U.S. degree level. As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
