Job summary

The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is seeking a versatile Library Assistant to support circulation, reference, and children's/AV services. Responsibilities include verifying out/in items, assisting patrons, and helping with programs.

Workload spans multiple departments with emphasis on quality service, accuracy, and adherence to library policies. The position offers full/part-time options and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of library policies and procedures and the Dewey Decimal System.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and staff.
• Skill in operating a computer, using the Internet, typing and data entry; confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and check books in/out at the circulation desk.
• Assist patrons in locating materials and using library services.
• Process holds, renewals, fines, and item transactions.
• Provide support in designated departments such as children, adult, reference or AV.
• Maintain shelves, handle programming activities, and aid with events.
