Job summary

Meeting Street is seeking a full-time Librarian to join our school library team in Rhode Island. The role focuses on teaching reading, research, and media literacy, while developing diverse instructional materials for students across grade levels.

Responsibilities include coordinating with others to provide access to resources, guiding students in ICT evaluation, and modelling digital literacies within a supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with valid school librarian/media certification from RIDE or the ability to obtain.
  • Work environment and physical requirements consistent with those of a typical school environment.
  • Ability to move about the classroom and building continuously throughout the workday.
  • Utilize the computer (20%) of the time and other office equipment.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content and genres throughout the academic year.

  • Cooperates and networks with other libraries, librarians, and agencies to provide access to resources outside the school.
  • Models' effective strategies for developing multiple literacies.
  • Provides guidance in software and hardware evaluation.
  • Understands copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property regulations, and assists others with their understanding and observance of the same.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  • Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies and effective classroom management techniques.

Meeting Street is currently looking for a Librarian for 40 hours per week.

Duties
