Caterpillar is seeking a Level 3 Machinist Technician for Lafayette, IN, offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus and $26.68/hour with a 6% shift differential. The role supports the Large Power Systems Division with 2nd and 3rd shifts and potential overtime.

Responsibilities include operating NC machines, quality control, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Strong machining knowledge and lean manufacturing experience are essential.

This position is for a Level 3 Machinist Technician within the Large Power Systems Division located in our Lafayette, IN facility.

Actual shift availability varies week by week and successful candidates will be started as soon as a position becomes available on their requested shift. Please note that this could mean a sizable waiting period before starting.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Basic Qualifications:

• Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of machining principles; basic SPC, blueprint reading; understanding of geometric tolerances; ability to interpret CMM reports; quality data; and work experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Required to stay in section for 12 months except for a promotion or nights to days move

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to bend and twist at the waist and be able to squat.
• Must be able to stand on concrete for 8+ hours.

Additional Information:

• Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.
• Shifts: 2nd (3:30pm-11:30pm) & 3rd (11:30pm-7:30am)
• AWS (Alternative Work Schedule) Shifts: A Shift: 7pm Sunday-7am Wednesday C Shift: 7pm Wednesday-7am Saturday (36 hours=40 hours pay)
• Possibility to train on a day shift anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months

Summary Pay Range:

$26.68 - $33.99
