The West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust invites applications for Modern Apprentice Swim Teachers. This fixed-term apprenticeship offers practical training to develop teaching and coaching skills in a professional aquatic setting.
Successful candidates will work toward SVQ Level 2 and SSTQ qualifications with support from the Swimming Development Team. PVG membership is essential, and roles suit those aged 16–24 (up to 29 with certain conditions).
The post is a fixed term apprentice training contract until 30/06/2027.
The Swimming Development Team at West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to recruit Modern Apprentice Swim Teachers.
This role is ideal for motivated young people living in West Dunbartonshire who are looking to develop valuable skills, knowledge, and experience within the sports and education sector.
Successful candidates will work towards:
SVQ Level 2 in Sports Coaching (SCQF Level 6)
Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) (SCQF Level 7)
Throughout the apprenticeship, candidates will receive practical training and support to develop their teaching, coaching, and communication skills within a professional aquatic environment.
We also welcome applications from candidates who already hold the Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) and are looking to further develop their career and experience within the aquatics industry.

If you are aged 16-24 years (or up to age 29, if you are disabled or care experienced), resident within West Dunbartonshire, have 3 National Grade 5's (one to include English) or equivalent or any other relevant qualifications and experience and are a proactive person with an interest in childcare we would like to hear from you.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
