Lending Advisor

Job Overview The Lending Advisor role is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in their field and adapts them for application within their job and the business. Recognized as a subject matter expert in areas such as Art, Aircraft, Commercial Real Estate, Alternative Investment and Unsecured lending, the candidate must possess strong commercial awareness and be an acknowledged authority both within and outside their area of expertise. Excellent communication skills are required for negotiation at senior levels and occasional external communication. The role involves advanced judgment and in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and produce decisions that shape technical approaches and strategies for the area.

Responsibilities
  • The Lending Advisor is an experienced lending product specialist and Credit Officer with direct client coverage responsibility.
  • Marketing and sale of the full product range, including client calling and account planning in partnership with Private Bankers.
  • Understanding and anticipating clients’ needs and following up with effective products and financial solutions.
  • Maximizing revenue generation while achieving at least minimum return targets and ensuring responsible lending growth.
  • Ensuring appropriate transaction structuring and execution with risk and return characteristics, complying with Credit Policy and Risk Acceptance standards.
  • Defining, coordinating, and overseeing the analytical activities of the deal team.
  • Defining and negotiating the transaction and credit framework, including covenant definition.
  • Overseeing preparation of credit and capital allocation memos.
  • Overseeing the Credit Approval write‑up for new deals and annual reviews.
  • Negotiating, obtaining, and closing credit documentation while ensuring compliance with Citi and external policies and coordinating with external counsel and Risk Management.
  • Monitoring early problem recognition and proposing appropriate credit classification and risk rating for specific transactions or relationships.
  • Influencing stakeholders—including clients, senior bank staff, Risk, auditors, and other departments—to deliver against budget and meet the Bank’s highest standards.
  • Participating in remedial management actions as required.
  • Assessing risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citi’s reputation, and ensuring compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and internal policy.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in lending or related fields.
  • Strong analytical, financial structuring, and execution skills.
  • Strong marketing and sales skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Citibank’s Credit Policies, Product Programs, and Citi Policies.
  • Good knowledge of financial markets, investments, banking, and loan products.
  • Financial and cash‑flow modelling capability.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving.
  • Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment.
  • Team player.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or University degree; Master’s degree preferred.
