Job summary

Duke University’s Duke Lemur Center is seeking a Commissary Technician to support food preparation, inventory management, and animal nutrition programs. This full-time role requires meticulous attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and cleanliness.

You will prepare specialized diets, manage inventories of produce and feeder insects, and collaborate with husbandry and curatorial staff to support daily operations in a mission-driven environment. The position operates 7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in food preparation or commissary operations preferred.
• Experience managing crickets and worms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion fresh fruits, vegetables, and other dietary items according to established nutrition plans.
• Assist in assembling prescribed diets for the Duke Lemur Center's primate colony.
• Accurately label, date, and manage prepared food items to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
• Receive, organize, and store food deliveries and supplies.
