Mental Health Support Services in Chesterfield County is seeking qualified professionals to support individuals with developmental disabilities in day programs, providing skills training, supervision, and recreational activities.
The role involves case management duties, assisting with community participation, maintaining documentation in an electronic health record, and ensuring safety through CPI/BLS standards. Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Day Support Program provides day-time services at a community day program center to include skills training, supervision, and leisure/recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred; one year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor's degree in human services, or related field preferred. Five or more years of direct day support experience preferred; experience in the development and implementation of individual service plans preferred; experience in supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in activities of community integration, personal care, and life skills training preferred; experience with an electronic health record preferred. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Basic Life Support (BLS), and/or Medication Administration certification preferred.
Knowledge of purpose of residential and day program services, attitude of community toward individuals with developmental disabilities; knowledge of first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), and emergency services; knowledge of community services and case management. ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment preferred; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing preferred; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers preferred; ability to document using an electronic health record preferred.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
