Responsibilities

• Attend and staff House committees during session, working with staff from the House and the Office of Legislative Counsel.
• Attend and staff interim committee meetings.
• Develop subject-matter expertise on issues within a committee's jurisdiction.
• Conduct legal research to provide legislators with accurate information on complex issues.
• Prepare briefs, memoranda, or statements of issues involved in proposed legislation, with recommendations.
• Review necessary judicial opinions, decisions, and citations.
• Prepare bill summaries and track legislation throughout the process.
• Draft summaries of enacted legislation.
• Communicate with legislators and committee chairmen.
• Complete special projects and other assigned tasks.
