Job summary

The University of Colorado Law School seeks a faculty member to join its legal writing program, with emphasis on teaching Legal Writing I for the fall and Legal Writing II for the spring to about thirty first-year students. The role includes teaching an upper-level writing course for 2-3 credits and guiding student development through frequent feedback.

The workload is 80% teaching and 20% service, with duties spanning curriculum development, classroom instruction, grading, and student advising.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent degree.
• Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
• At least five years of legal practice or two years of experience teaching legal writing (or related subjects) is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Legal Writing I during the fall semester and Legal Writing II during the spring semester to approximately thirty first-year law students.
• Teach one upper-level writing course for 2-3 credits.
• Prepare lectures and discussions, design writing projects, grade and critique assignments, and meet with students individually.
