Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Senior Legal Specialist to lead support teams and provide litigation and regulatory support across multiple states within the enterprise. The role requires in-depth legal knowledge and the ability to manage complex matters.

You will coach staff, conduct comprehensive legal research, respond to subpoenas and investigations, and track evolving laws to optimize corporate practices. Hybrid schedule with in-office collaboration expected.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent with Paralegal Certification or higher.
• Legal experience of 10+ years or equivalent education.
• Experience with regulatory inquiries and investigations is a plus.

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1-2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. Legal Specialist Senior

is responsible for leading support staff and providing legal support services for multiple states, enterprise-wide functions, and/or litigation through complex legal assignments and projects, which utilize a recognized area of specialization and knowledge specific to litigation and the company.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Serves as a seasoned resource and may coach other support staff.
• Prepares and evaluates legal documentation to resolve problems and responds to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
• Conducts legal research and analysis and recommends appropriate course of action and next steps.
• Performs fact checking, gathers documents, researches and responds to subpoenas, records requests, and various inquiries from internal and external sources, coordinates investigation and discovery activities.
• Serves as a lead in the investigation and resolution of complex cases.
• Monitors state and federal legislation affecting the corporation and implements recommendations relative to changes in regulations and laws.
• Applies business knowledge and technical expertise to optimize solutions and improve practices.
• Participates in the management of projects and may participate in negotiations and strategizing with business and staff.
• Enters information into appropriate databases and/or other document management systems.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of legal or related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, And Experiences

• Litigation experience – responding to subpoenas and managing deadlines.
• Expert level in Microsoft suite of products.
• Extensive experience with Lexis Nexis or Westlaw and preferred experience with LLMs.
