Job summary
Agribusiness Development Agency is seeking a Legal Manager for a 36-month fixed-term contract based in Pietermaritzburg. The role reports to the CEO and supports the Office of the CEO with strategic legal services.
The successful candidate will lead litigation, provide broad legal advice, draft policies, review contracts and ensure regulatory compliance within the government/entity framework.

- Type of Employment: Fixed term contract for 36 months
- Reporting Line: Chief Executive Officer
- Unit: Office of the CEO
- An undergraduate SAQA recognised qualification Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or B. Proc degree
- Admitted as an attorney or an advocate
- Valid driver's license
Minimum of 6 years' post-qualification legal experience of which at least 3 years of experience at a middle level
Previous experience in the position of an attorney, advocate or legal advisor preferred.
Experience in a government entity or corporate preferred.
Experience in providing legal advice on the regulatory frameworks applicable to government entities preferred.
Proven track-record and experience in providing legal advice on a broad-range of matters.
- Knowledge of applicable legal prescripts.
- Proven knowledge of litigation and court procedure.
- Regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
- Policy drafting, application, and review.
- Contract, drafting, negotiation and review.
- Employment/labour law knowledge.
