Job summary

Rockland Trust's Legal Department invites a second-year law student (2L) to join as a Summer Legal Intern. You will work with experienced attorneys on corporate, banking, and financial services matters, applying classroom learning to real-world challenges in a hybrid Rockland, MA setting.

You'll gain hands-on experience, participate in contract reviews, governance tasks, due diligence, and a capstone summer project with a presentation to senior leaders at the program's conclusion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited JD program with strong academics.
• Interest in corporate, banking, or financial services law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with attorneys to support ongoing legal matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on corporate, commercial, and regulatory topics.
• Review and assist in negotiating contracts under attorney supervision.

Summer Legal Intern, Legal Department

The Legal Department is seeking a second-year law student (2L) for our Summer Internship Program. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in pursuing an in-house legal career or a career in corporate law, banking law, or financial services and looking to apply classroom learning to real-world legal challenges.

What You'll Do

• Partner with attorneys to support a variety of ongoing legal matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory requirements to support business objectives, strategic initiatives, and risk management efforts.
• Review and assist in negotiating commercial contracts under attorney supervision.
• Assist with corporate governance matters, including the preparation and maintenance of corporate records and board materials.
• Assist with due diligence activities related to vendor management, strategic projects, and other business initiatives.
• Help maintain legal forms, templates, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with fellow interns on a summer project, presenting insights and recommendations to leaders at the conclusion of the program.

• Completed second year of law school (2L preferred).
