Job Description

At Norton Rose Fulbright, people thrive because of a shared commitment to quality, unity and integrity. The highly regarded law firm consistently receives recognition from Great Place to Work and Top Workplaces, two companies that specialize in assessing organizational culture. Teams collaborate across regions, value new ideas and deliver meaningful client solutions, supported by a culture that embraces ambition, development and shared success. With more than 3,000 lawyers and 3,000 business services professionals working together across 50 offices worldwide, this global law firm provides a full range of legal services to leading corporations and financial institutions operating in key markets and sectors.

About You

You are a practical problem solver who understands how litigation teams work and where technology can reduce friction. You are comfortable partnering with lawyers, paralegals, eDiscovery, IT and business services professionals to turn recurring litigation tasks into repeatable workflows, prototypes, and tools. You bring a strong service mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to translate between legal strategy, matter execution, and technical possibilities.

About the Role

Norton Rose Fulbright has a long-standing commitment to leveraging technology to enhance legal services and streamline operations. We are seeking a Legal Engineer - Litigation to support the design, build, and adoption of AI-enabled and technology-assisted workflows for disputes matters. This role sits within the Legal Engineering function and reports to the Head of Legal Engineering, while working closely with litigation practice groups, Innovation, Knowledge Management, and other business services teams.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can help litigation teams use approved technology responsibly and effectively. The successful candidate will identify high-value litigation use cases, design practical workflows, support adoption, and help ensure that AI-assisted litigation outputs remain accurate, defensible, secure, and aligned with lawyer professional obligations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

As a litigation-focused legal engineer, you will work directly with lawyers and practice teams to understand how litigation work is performed, identify opportunities for efficiency gains, and build or configure practical solutions that support the delivery of high-quality legal work. You will help move promising ideas from the proof of concept phase into repeatable, matter-ready workflows.

You will also contribute to the firm's broader approach to responsible AI in litigation by helping evaluation methods, and adoption materials that support defensible use of approved tools across disputes practices.

Litigation Workflow Design & Build
  • Partner with litigation teams to identify, scope, and prioritize high-value workflows across various disputes use cases.
  • Design, prototype, test, and support adoption of AI-enabled litigation workflows using firm-approved tools and platforms.
  • Develop repeatable prompts, templates, checklists, and workflow patterns for litigation use cases such as chronologies, fact development, issue lists, document summaries, deposition preparation, witness preparation, and case strategy support.
  • Work with eDiscovery, practice support, and litigation teams to align legal engineering solutions with document review, analytics, case management, and other matter workflows supporting each phase of the litigation cycle.
  • Develop and maintain evaluation methods to test accuracy, completeness, source grounding, and defensibility of AI-assisted litigation outputs.
  • Experience developing scalable frameworks, playbooks, reusable knowledge assets (including skills), or solution patterns.
Practice Enablement and Adoption
  • Partner with the Innovation team and AI & Innovation Counsel to integrate approved AI and automation tools into existing litigation workstreams while preserving lawyer judgment, supervision, confidentiality, and client requirements.
  • Create reusable adoption materials, matter intake questions, workflow guides, and examples that help litigation teams recognize when and how to use approved tools.
  • Capture lessons learned from pilots and live matters to improve repeatable workflows and contribute to the broader legal engineering roadmap.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work directly with the Head of Legal Engineering, Innovation leadership, litigation partners, associates, paralegals, eDiscovery, Knowledge Management, IT, and Information Security to co-design practical solutions.
  • Partner with the AI Governance & Program Manager and other stakeholders to ensure litigation workflows meet firm standards, client requirements, confidentiality obligations, and responsible AI expectations.
  • Act as a translator between litigation needs, technical capabilities, and risk considerations so matter teams can adopt technology with confidence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred, or equivalent professional experience in litigation support, legal technology, eDiscovery, legal operations, or professional services.
  • Minimum five years of experience supporting litigation, investigations, arbitration, eDiscovery, legal innovation, legal technology implementation, product delivery, or related workflows.
  • Strong understanding of how litigation work is performed in practice, including fact development, document review, case organization, pleadings, discovery, depositions, expert work, hearing or trial preparation, and matter management.
  • Experience with litigation technology, eDiscovery platforms, AI-enabled legal tools, workflow automation, or case management tools; experience with Legora, Harvey, Copilot, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Ability to decompose legal workflows, gather requirements, design practical solutions, and support adoption by busy matter teams.
  • Familiarity with AI quality control concepts, including source grounding, verification, defensibility, privilege/confidentiality concerns, and limitations of AI-generated outputs.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and moving iteratively from user need to prototype to scalable workflow.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between legal, technical, and risk stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Curiosity about the future of litigation practice and the practical implications of AI for legal service delivery.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security, client confidentiality, and responsible AI considerations in a law firm or professional services context.
