Job summary

Suffolk County Department of Law seeks a Courier to transport checks, subpoenas, mail, and documents between offices and law firms. You will also perform clerical tasks, archive handling, and routine vehicle maintenance.

This role requires a NYS driver’s license and either two years of driving experience or two years as a Driver Messenger. Starting salary is $36,096 with a 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. schedule, and benefits include health insurance, pension, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Open Competitive; requires high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of driving experience as messenger/courier or as Driver Messenger.
• Possess the appropriate New York State driver’s license and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mail and records to Central Islip, Riverhead, and other county agencies.
• Serve checks and subpoenas to individuals involved in Family Court cases.
• File legal documents in Riverhead and Central Islip courts.
• Pick up/drop off archive boxes and materials; maintain assigned county vehicles.
• Perform receptionist duties, photocopying, archiving, and phone coverage.
