Job summary

Job description

Provides administrative and paralegal support to the General Counsel's office to include document preparation and review; legal research, corporate governance support and general business assistance.

Major Responsibilities & Duties
  • Performs a wide variety of clerical, technical, and administrative office support duties, including scheduling meetings, arranging travel and managing expenses/invoices.
  • Prepares legal correspondence for review by the attorneys.
  • Assists with regulatory filings and responding to legal notices.
  • Organizes and maintains case and project files; queries legal databases and prepares reports; uploads legal documents into document management system.
  • Researches legislation (federal and state), as well as current policies, trends, rules and regulations.
  • Tracks Legal Holds and assists in the gathering, review and organization of documents.
  • Assists with the formation, maintenance and dissolution of corporate entities, including drafting corporate resolutions and governance documents.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and prepares responses to subpoenas.
  • Communicates regularly with internal clients, outside counsel and regulatory officials to support business operations.
  • Assists attorneys in the preparation of arguments, testimony, affidavits, and declarations.
  • Schedules, prepares for, attends, and assists at meetings, depositions, proceedings, court, or agency hearings.
  • Assists in OIG/SAM exclusion List Reviews.
  • Develops presentations and trainings.
  • Assists the Compliance, Youth Safety Audit, Advocacy, and Internal Audit Department Directors as needed.

  • Knowledge of legal and court procedures, terminology, and methods of legal research; knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care.

  • Ability to understand and disseminate clearly and accurately in written and verbal form statements of law and fact.
  • Ability to conduct investigative research, assess and organize documents based on relevant legal issues, and translate complex data into understandable conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment, manage large workloads, prioritize, complete multiple tasks, and keep deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to work from the office 5 days a week.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
Physical Requirements, Equipment Usage, Work Environment
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.
  • Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
