Overview

This in-person position is based in a professional, fast-paced boutique law firm that values discretion, precision, and compassion. The Legal Assistant provides direct support to attorneys in a growing family law practice. The role requires professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail when working with clients on sensitive legal matters. The Legal Assistant assists with case preparation and management, drafts and files legal documents, tracks deadlines, and coordinates communications between attorneys, clients, and third parties. The position also involves managing calendars, organizing case files, and supporting billing and administrative processes. The role helps ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the firm and exceptional client service.

Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $55,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Draft, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery, financial affidavits, and correspondence
  • File documents with the court through e-filing systems and track case deadlines and hearing dates
  • Organize, maintain, and update case files for accuracy and accessibility
  • Conduct legal research and prepare supporting materials for attorney review
  • Assist in trial preparation, including preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule client meetings, mediations, depositions, and hearings
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court staff in a professional manner
  • Provide administrative support as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the office
  • Greet clients and guests to the firm, offering hospitality with a focus on client satisfaction
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in legal studies or related field, completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program, or comparable experience
  • 1-3 years of experience, preferably in family law or litigation
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High emotional intelligence and professional demeanor, especially when dealing with sensitive or emotionally charged client matters
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading accuracy
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with case management and legal billing software (preferably MyCase) is a plus
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures, especially in family law
  • Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential information
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as a team player
