Legal Assistant – Trusts & Estates (Nassau County, NY)
A well-established mid-sized law firm located in Nassau County is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Trusts & Estates department. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with at least two years of experience in estate planning to support a fast-paced and growing T&E practice.
Base pay range
$65,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in estate planning
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and coordination with clients, tax auditors, attorneys, and other professionals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with probate and administration documents a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to multiple attorneys in the Trusts & Estates department
- Draft, organize and maintain estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, power of attorney and related ancillary forms
- Prepare, review and file beneficiary designation forms
- Facilitate the re-titling of assets into revocable or irrevocable trusts by preparing the appropriate documentation and coordinating with financial institutions
- Proofread and organize legal documents, estate planning forms, memoranda, correspondence, and timesheets for accuracy and consistency
- Transcribe, scan, and electronically distribute legal documents
- Maintain attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, and schedule appointments
- Handle incoming calls and greet clients and visitors professionally
- Facilitate will/trust execution meetings
- Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and digital files
- Assist with overflow work within the department as needed
- Accurately enter attorney billable time
- Perform redlining, document formatting, and scanning
