Job description

J Riddick Law, LLC specializes in Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts), Probate Advocacy, Adult Guardianship, and Conservatorship in Georgia. The firm operates in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.

Role Description:

This position is 90% remote, with limited in-person requirements for mailing and document signings. This is a part-time position, working up to twenty hours per week, with a flexible schedule. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for legal document preparation, communication, administrative assistance, and supporting attorneys in various legal tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Law and Legal Assistants skills
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation
  • Experience in Administrative Assistance
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Knowledge of Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship laws is a plus
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field is preferred
  • Comfortable dealing with clients in emotionally charged or stressful situations
  • Comfortable working remotely and having your own laptop and smartphone with broadband internet access

Responsibilities:

  • Calendaring, organizing, and managing legal records and case files
  • Preparing correspondence and certificates of service for pleadings and decisions
  • Timely mailing or otherwise distributing decisions and orders to litigants
  • Assisting with drafting and editing legal documents
  • Tracking cases and deadlines utilizing databases and agency systems
  • Responding promptly to requests via postal service, private delivery companies, email, or phone
  • Typing up and filing basic legal documents and correspondence
  • Answering and directing phone calls
