Barrick Gold Corporation is offering a Senior Underground Engineer role at the Leeville operation in Nevada. The position focuses on planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed engineering phases for major projects, including long-range mine planning and resource estimates.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in underground mine planning with ventilation experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office, Deswik, and VentSim.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
• Plan and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Perform work involving conventional engineering with complex features and coordination requirements.
• Develop and evaluate plans and criteria; devise new approaches to problems.
• Create long range mine plans including CAPEX and OPEX estimates.
• Prepare Reserve and Resource estimates for the site.
• Create metrics to determine operational efficiencies and growth prospects.
• Foster a constructive environment with other departments at the operation.
• Manage workload allocation and deliverables from the site engineering and survey team.

The successful candidate is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

Responsibilities:

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
• Plan and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates. Meet with representatives of other departments to coordinate planning and scheduling activities.
• Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but includes a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements
• Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities. Devise new approaches to problems encountered. Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems
• Creation of long range mine plans inclusive of CAPEX, OPEX estimates
• Preparation of Reserve and Resource estimates for the site
• Create and analyze metrics to determine operational efficiencies and growth prospects
• Create an environment of trust and respect with other departments at the operation
• Manage and be accountable for the workload allocation and generated products from the site engineering and survey team
