Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer position in the Basic Nursing Assistant (BNA) program at Kennedy-King College. The lecturer will deliver classroom theory, labs, and supervised clinicals to prepare students for the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Exam.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license, has RN experience, and can teach in a college setting using Blackboard or D2L. We value diverse learners and community impact.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree and BNA Train-the-Trainer course required.
• Bachelor in Nursing or higher; Train-the-Trainer course preferred.
• Must hold valid Illinois RN license.
• Two years of RN experience.
• Experience teaching in an accredited nurse training program or direct eldercare.
• IDPH Illinois Evaluator Certification with refresher workshop every five years.
• AHA BLS CPR certification preferred.
• Experience with Blackboard or D2L for instruction.
• Excellent oral and written communication with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Instructs through classroom theory, labs, and supervised clinical sessions at a healthcare facility.
• Provides syllabus, grading standards, attendance policies, and behavior expectations.
• Prepares lessons to develop basic nursing skills and CPR.
• Maintains attendance and grading records per CCC policy.
• Constructs exams and assignments and provides timely feedback.
• Evaluates student progress and submits grades and paperwork.
• Maintains a safe, orderly classroom environment.
• Consults with program coordinator to resolve issues.
• Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provides instruction through classroom theory/lecture,laboratory demonstration and skills practices, and supervisedclinical sessions at a designated health care facility such as anursing home or long-term care facility.
• Provides students with course syllabus including courseoutline, grading standards, attendance policies, and classroombehavioral expectations.
• Prepares lessons to teach and facilitate student learning todevelop basic nursing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skillsusing appropriate methods of instruction.
• Maintains student attendance and grading records in compliancewith CCC policy and guidelines.
• Constructs exams and assignments to evaluate student learning.Evaluates student progress and provides students with timelyfeedback.
• Responsible for student evaluation and timely and accuratesubmission of grades and paperwork related to instruction
• Maintains a purposeful, orderly, safe, and healthy classroomenvironment.
• Consults with program coordinator to resolve issues
• Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate Degree and the completion of the BNA InstructorTrain-the-Trainer course required.
• Bachelor in Nursing or higher, completion of BNA InstructorTrain-the-Trainer course preferred .
• Must have valid Registered Professional Nursing Illinoislicense.
• Two years of experience as a registered nurse (RN).
• Must have experience as a RN in at least one of the followingareas: 1. teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program;or 2. providing nursing care, including personal care andactivities of daily living, to older adults or chronically illadults.
• IDPH approved Illinois Evaluator Certification and ability tocomplete a Department-sponsored Approved Evaluator Workshoprefresher course every five years
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS healthcareprovider CPR certification preferred.
• Experience with technologies used for Instruction such asBlackboard or D2L.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability tocommunicate with diverse group of staff and students, required
• Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population isdesired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of thecommunity college

Rate of pay for this position is $40/hour.
