The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on‑going basis for our Wildfire Sciences pool of part‑time lecturers. Applicants may fill short‑term temporary lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester, and the pool may be used to fill vacant positions as needed throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. The pool will be closed effective May 31st.

Minimum Qualifications

• An associate’s degree in Fire Sciences
• Demonstrable professional experience in the subject matter of the class
• Per the California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Sciences
• Five (5) or more years of professional experience in wildfire
• Minimum one semester of college‑level teaching experience
• Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.

Salary Commensurate With Degree Level And Experience

• Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
• CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
