KINE 190 - First Year Experience

Position: Lecturer (Fall 2026) – There are two sections: Fridays 12:30 p.m.–3:20 p.m.; Wednesdays 7:00 p.m.–9:50 p.m. Modality: In Person. College: College of Education, Health and Human Services. Department: Kinesiology.

Course Description

Foundational skills for academic success in Kinesiology. The course develops essential scholarly and real‑world analytical and problem‑solving skills, covers discipline‑specific writing conventions, current faculty research, and campus resources for Kinesiology majors. Emphasis is placed on cooperative learning, project management, professionalism, effective communication, information literacy, and intrapersonal/interpersonal skills to be used throughout the program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of CSUSM resources and ability to connect students with those resources.
  • Compliance with the California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy (employment in California is a condition of employment).
Preferred Qualifications
  • A doctorate or terminal degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field.
  • Higher education experience teaching in the area.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community (to the extent applicable).
Salary
  • Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $6,677 per full‑time month (Lecturer A). Employment is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
