Job summary

Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering to begin January 2027. The successful candidate will teach CpE or electrical engineering coursework at the freshman/sophomore level and contribute to curriculum development in ABET-focused programs.

Strong preference for candidates with industry experience in embedded systems, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, diverse teaching.

Qualifications

• Masters' degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or broadly related field.
• Strong interest in teaching freshman level ECE courses, digital logic with lab and Introduction to EE and Embedded Systems with lab.
• Strong interest in developing relationships with students from underrepresented groups and attracting them to ECE.
• Excellent communication skills to meet the needs of our diverse student body.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
• Preferred Qualifications: College teaching experience; Relevant industrial experience; 1-year teaching experience in an online environment; Experience teaching Digital Logic, and/or Embedded Systems courses.

Responsibilities

• Meet all scheduled classes;
• Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
• Schedule and attend office hours
• Turn in grades according to established deadlines
• Advise students who are declared majors on department, college and University requirements and career opportunities;
• Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
