Job summary

Description

The Physical Sciences Department of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications for Lecturer Full-Time Temporary with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time 100% FTE basis for a nine-month academic-year, one-year, renewable appointment beginning September 16, 2026. Positions in this title are non-tenure track, non-voting, and non-promotable. Reappointments are for one year with a 3 consecutive year limit and are contingent upon instructional needs, performance, and funding.

The base salary range for this position will be $6,000 - $6,860 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

A successful candidate is expected to teach upper-level physical chemistry lecture and labs (BCHEM 401/402/404), general chemistry lectures and labs (BCHEM 143/153/163 and BCHEM 144/154/164) and may have the opportunity to teach an upper-level elective in their specialty. Candidates may also have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students in a research setting. The position has an expectation of teaching nine courses in the three quarters of the regular academic year.

Instructional needs for the 2026-27 Academic Year include:

  • Autumn - BCHEM 401, BCHEM 143B, BCHEM 144B and BCHEM 144F
  • Winter - BCHEM 402, BCHEM 154B, BCHEM 154C and BCHEM 154F
  • Spring - BCHEM 404A, BCHEM 404B, BCHEM 154E, BCHEM 153 or BCHEM 493

Qualifications

Applicants for this instructional faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in chemistry or related field or foreign equivalent required by time of appointment.
