Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Kent, OH is seeking a detail-oriented Lease Accounting Specialist to join our finance team on a full-time, hybrid basis. You will manage high-volume lease data, process invoices, and prepare journal entries while ensuring accuracy across systems.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business, and strong Excel skills. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to month-end close and process

Responsibilities

• Maintain lease accounting records and manage equipment and property in the lease system.
• Approve monthly lease invoices with Equipment department.
• Prepare and upload monthly journal entries for lease items.
• Reconcile lease-related GL accounts for accuracy.
• Investigate variances to preserve financial integrity.
• Handle intersystem and intercompany transfers per policy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy.
• Support month-end close with analyses and documentation.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Position Overview

This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in lease accounting and skilled in managing high-volume data entry with accuracy and attention to detail. As a valued member of a collaborative team, you will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to key initiatives, share knowledge, and take on meaningful responsibilities while developing your expertise in leasing and contributing to the team’s success.

Job Duties

• Maintain accurate lease accounting records by managing equipment and property within the lease accounting system, including entering new leases, updating cost center assignments, and retiring inactive leases
• Approve monthly lease invoices from lease vendors in conjunction with the Equipment department
• Prepare and upload monthly journal entries for lease-related items
• Reconcile lease-related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate information
• Investigate variances to maintain financial accuracy and integrity
• Process intersystem and intercompany transfers, ensuring transactions are completed accurately and in accordance with company policies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure lease data is complete, accurate, and properly reflected across systems and financial records.
• Support month-end close activities through account analysis, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting documentation.
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of lease accounting operations.

Qualifications

• Preferred one to three years of accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business degree required
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent organizational skills
• Skilled in managing large volumes of data entry while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Exceptional creative thinking skills
• Ability to absorb and retain information quickly and a strong desire to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
