Job summary

Hopkins Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional at Hopkins West Middle School to support reading, math, and writing, assist in classrooms, monitor student progress, and help implement MTSS-based interventions.

The role emphasizes equity, inclusion, and a safe learning environment, with duties ranging from in-class support to targeted interventions and progress reporting to teachers.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing ParaPro Score.
  • Two (2) years of curriculum support experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the whole class under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.
  • Provides instructional assistance and motivates students in math, reading, and language.
  • Facilitates and delivers practice activities designed to enrich and extend learning.
  • Assists teacher with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions.
  • Collaborates with students to create a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teachers.
  • Supports adaptations in the learning environment based on observation of student performance and engagement.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Promotes and supports the district mission by courteous, cooperative behavior with public and staff.
  • Supervise and support multiple groups of students working asynchronously and independently on Canvas assignments.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 6 students identified through MTSS; deliver Tier 2 interventions and progress monitor.

SUMMARY: Provides students with intervention opportunities in reading, math, and writing; supports full classroom learning experiences; monitors student progress.

  • Works with the whole class under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

  • Supervise and support multiple groups of students working asynchronously and independently on class assignments posted to Canvas, ensuring a focused and productive learning environment.

  • Manage a caseload of up to 6 students identified through the MTSS process; deliver targeted Tier 2 interventions (check & connect etc.) and progress monitor to support attendance & behavioral growth.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education and Experience:



  • Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing ParaPro Score.

  • Two (2) years of curriculum support experience.

  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Paraprofessional Contract- SEIU
Range: Step-1 $25.45 per hour
