Learning Support Center Coordinator (Student Services Professional III)

Join the San Diego State University team to support retention and academic success for students served by Educational Opportunity Programs, Outreach & Success (EOPOS) and other underrepresented student populations.

Position Summary

The Learning Support Center Coordinator leads and coordinates programs and services, oversees daily operations, manages academic support programs, supervises student staff, and partners with campus and community organizations to advance student achievement and equity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations, supervise and train graduate assistants, student assistants, and instructional student assistants.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate academic support programs, workshops, tutoring services, and degree completion and career readiness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with campus partners such as the Writing Center, Math & Statistics Learning Center, and Student Affairs departments.
  • Assess student needs, track participation and outcomes, and prepare reports to inform program development.
  • Maintain Learning Support Center communications, including website updates, newsletters, and social media.
  • Represent EOPOS and the Learning Support Center at campus events and student success initiatives.
Position Information
  • Full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • Exempt under FLSA; not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with variation based on operational needs.
  • Work location: San Diego campus.
Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university in a related field, with or supplemented by upper‑division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience. Possession of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience is required.

  • Ability to apply learning theory, styles, and cultural or linguistic awareness in supporting diverse student populations.

  • Proficiency with student support systems (e.g., EAB Navigate) and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary is based on experience, education, and qualifications, within the department’s budget and equity guidelines. The CSU Classification Salary Range is $5,540 – $7,893 per month. SDSU offers a comprehensive benefits package including retirement, health coverage, paid time off, and tuition fee waivers.
