Job summary

Back On Course Educational Services LLC in California is seeking a Learning Specialist to support adults pursuing science careers. You will use diverse methods, establish rapport quickly, and apply an andragogical approach in dynamic settings.

You will manage client intake and evaluations, design educational goals, collaborate with subject-matter experts, and facilitate onboarding. This role combines remote and in-person work, with occasional travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Educational background in science or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience in a science field (Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to adult learners
• Comfort with using diverse instructional methods and platforms

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional, caring, welcoming environment that models patience, compassion, and respect for diverse cultures and experiences
• Facilitate client intake process and lead client evaluation processes
• Develop, and facilitate educational goals and teaching methods that achieve the program's objectives and client outcomes
• Use an instructional approach rooted in andragogy
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject‑matter experts to create and identify methods, materials, and resources for instruction, including social media content
• Design and administer regular assessments to determine client’s needs, interests, learning styles, skill levels, and progress
• Collaborate with staff to identify barriers to achievement of client objectives and create action plans to overcome them
• Assist with the facilitation of new employee and client onboarding and training
• The specialist will work both remotely, and in‑person. The position will occasionally require travel from one job site to another during the work day. The specialist must be able to perform the outlined job duties and responsibilities that support the performance standards of the position with or without accommodations

Who You Are:

We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of science and education, with an educational background and/or a minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a science field such as: Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Carpentry, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Construction Management, etc.

Teaching experience is a plus!

Additional Qualifications/Skills:

Passion for learning, with a strong ability to learn new software, systems and concepts

Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and writing skills

Ability to clearly and effectively explain technical information and challenging concepts

Ability to work seated in front of a computer for long periods of time

Ability to successfully pass background check

Spanish fluency is a plus!
