Job summary

Penn State College of Medicine seeks an experienced Learning Specialist to join our team of medical educators and academic support professionals. The role focuses on individualized academic support, learning interventions, and collaboration with faculty to promote student success across the medical curriculum.

The position reports to the Associate Dean for Student Assessment and Program Evaluation and emphasizes evidence-based strategies, workshops, and ongoing progress monitoring to support

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in cognitive/educational psychology or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience providing academic coaching or learning support in STEM or health professions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ learning needs and help develop effective learning strategies.
• Develop and facilitate workshops and online modules to promote active learning.
• Provide individualized coaching and remediation plans with measurable goals.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions to ensure passing scores above borderline.
• Collaborate with Student Affairs and Educational Affairs to support student success.
