Job summary

The University of California, Los Angeles is seeking a Learning Centers Coordinator within Residential Life to enrich the on-campus experience. You will oversee the Sunset Learning Center, De Neve spaces, Maker Space, and related facilities, coordinating programs that support student success and community engagement.

You will supervise three student interns, partner with campus departments, analyze trends, and develop resources that enhance residents' academic growth and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings, prepare, and deliver professional presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse audiences to establish cooperative working relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Residential Life, student development and community development.
  • Working knowledge of basic budgeting principles and financial record keeping to monitor budgets and expenditures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and manage large and small-scale programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement student-facing programs from start to finish.
  • Organizational skills to manage a range of active projects with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to organize and complete assignments in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of university protocols for programming, event management, and liability (Preferred).
  • Skill at using web-based applications and systems to manage information, programs and data tracking (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of Learning Center operations, programs, events, and resources.
  • Coordinate large-scale initiatives such as Concerts on the Hill, Maker Fair, Tech Fair, Film Fest, and Bruin Day activations.
  • Supervise onboarding and ongoing training for three student interns who support programming.
  • Foster partnerships with campus departments and faculty to strengthen collaboration within Residential Life and Student Affairs.
  • Assess student interests and trends to develop communications and resources for residents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and student interns to identify programs meeting student needs.
  • Support Learning Center operations, including the Maker Space and Gaming Lounge.

Position Summary

Within Residential Life, the Learning Centers team focuses on enriching the residential academic, study, and creative experience. The team oversees the Sunset Learning Center, De Neve Multimedia Learning Center, De Neve Studio, Maker Space, and Gaming Lounge. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Digital Services, the Learning Centers Coordinator oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of Learning Center operations, programs, events, and resources that provide enriching opportunities for UCLA students to build community and enhance their university experience. The position coordinates large-scale initiatives including, but not limited to, Concerts on the Hill, WeMake – Maker Fair, Tech Fair, Film Fest, and Bruin Day activations. The Learning Centers Coordinator supervises and provides onboarding and ongoing training for a team of three student interns who support programming that promotes students' academic success, wellness, creativity, and community engagement. Fosters and maintains partnerships with campus departments and faculty to strengthen collaboration among Residential Life, Academic units, First-Year Experience, and other Student Affairs departments. The position assesses student interests and emerging trends related to study spaces, creative engagement, wellness, and community building; develops communications and resources for residents; and collaborates with colleagues and student interns to identify programs and initiatives that meet student needs. The Learning Centers Coordinator also supports Learning Center operations, including the Maker Space, Gaming Lounge, and other departmental initiatives.

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
