Job summary

Seattle Hebrew Academy is seeking an experienced Learning Center Specialist to support individualized instruction and in-class academic help across Early Childhood through 8th Grade. This role partners with families, teachers, and tutors to design and implement tailored plans that promote student progress.

Ideal candidates hold a Washington State teaching certificate with a Special Education background, plus training in reading interventions.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State teaching certificate.
• Special Education degree preferred.
• Reading intervention training (SIPPS, Wired for Reading, Slingerland).
• Knowledge of reading, writing, math, and executive functioning development.
• Strong knowledge of Elementary and/or Middle School content areas and state learning requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to set individual learning goals based on assessment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide pull-out services for students needing individualized instruction.
• Provide push-in services for in-class academic support.
• Provide testing accommodations for all students.
• Develop and implement individual student learning plans with students, parents and instructors.
• Offer ongoing consultations to teachers on student progress.
• Attend Learning Center, Grade Level and staff meetings.
• Collaborate with contracted tutors and support specialists.
• Participate as part of the academic team to support student progress.
• Coordinate with the Gesher Program Director to maintain student support schedules.
• Create a learning environment conducive to growth and learning.
• Participate in department, school and parent meetings.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students and colleagues.
• Participate in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback.
