Sylvan Learning in Glenview, IL seeks a lead teacher for our in-person after-school program. Responsibilities include delivering Sylvan curriculum, teaching math, reading, writing and study skills, and mentoring new teachers. Strong classroom management and clear communication with families are essential.

Part-time hours are 15‑20 per week, with weekday afternoons and Saturdays; you will help open/close the center and support center operations while upholding Sylvan standards.

Formación

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
• State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired).
• Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience.
• Experience in supervisor role preferred.
• Knowledge of current educational policy.
• Familiarity with instructional technology and standard office programs.

Responsabilidades

• Teaching math, reading, writing, and study skills to students at various grade levels using Sylvan curriculum and technology.
• Help train and support new teachers on Sylvan curriculum and technology.
• Observe and coach instructional staff to follow Sylvan guidelines and deliver balanced sessions.
• Assist Center Director in monitoring student progress and meeting family needs.
• Administer initial and ongoing progress assessments.
• Check students in/out with attention to safety and well-being.
• Greet and assist students, parents, and potential customers per Sylvan standards.
• Open, close and oversee center operations when Center Director is unavailable.

Sylvan Learning is the industry leader in providing supplemental education to children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and we are growing in Chicago and the Northshore! We are seeking a smart, dynamic individual with an Education background to be the lead teacher in our Glenview center. We are looking for someone available to work 15-20hrs per week including weekday afternoons from 4-7pm and Saturdays from 10am -2:00pm This is a great job for retired teachers as well!

As the Lead Teacher, you would be responsible for a variety of teaching, training, and center operation duties, including:

• Teaching math, reading, writing, and study skills to students at a variety of grade levels utilizing Sylvan curriculum and technology.
• Helping to train and support new teachers on Sylvan curriculum and technology.
• Observing and coaching instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow Sylvan’s Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robust
• Helping the Center Director monitors student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing family needs are met
• Administering initial and ongoing progress assessments
• Checking students in and out of the Center with particular attention to student safety and well-being
• Greeting and assisting students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards
• Opening, closing and helping to oversee center operations when Center Director cannot be present

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required
