Job summary

Andritz in Callery, PA is seeking a Learner Machinist for a temporary student learner position. Trainees will pair with an experienced operator to learn machine tools such as boring mills and lathes while following safety protocols in a manufacturing setting.

The program covers drawing interpretation, material loading, setup, tooling changes, mill operation, quality checks, and proper reporting. Enrolment in vocational education is required.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills required for measurement tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs.
• Familiarity with machine tool operations at a trainee level.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Interpret drawings and select proper tooling and setup.
• Load material into machines using crane positions and clamps.
• Align workpiece and spindle manually and verify with readouts.
• Set readout dials, insert tools, and activate cycles.
• Change tooling as needed and check first piece
• Operate milling equipment under supervision and control
• Unload finished pieces and inspect for quality
• Report any errors or faulty equipment immediately
• Maintain lubrication, cleanliness, and order in the work area
• Demonstrate customer focus and ownership for performance

The Role

This will be a student learner position. The student will be paired with a tenured machine tool operator to be trained in the operation of machine tools such as boring mills and lathes.

Requirements

• Safety protocol and culture while being in an industrial manufacturing environment.
