Job summary

nVent is hiring for a Lean Technician to join our Lexington, MN area operations. The role focuses on applying Lean principles to improve safety, quality, delivery and productivity on the manufacturing floor.

You will work with operators, supervisors, engineers and leaders to identify opportunities and implement practical improvements. The position offers on-site, entry-level opportunities, with onboarding at nearby facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of manufacturing/production experience preferred.
• Exposure to Lean concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, standard work or visual management is a plus.
• Ability to observe processes and propose practical improvements.

Responsibilities

• Drive a culture of continuous improvement by partnering with production teams to implement Future State Plans.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee experience.
• Apply Lean tools (e.g., Standard Work, 5S, Kanban) to support process improvements.
• Support Lean Kaizen events: coordinate activities, prepare materials, document actions, assist implementation.
• Track and communicate project progress and results to teams; gather feedback and foster open communication.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow from a production, team lead, or operations role into a Continuous Improvement career path. **WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS ROLE:*** Help drive a culture of continuous improvement by partnering with business areas to implement Future State Plans and improvement initiatives.* Work directly with production teams, supervisors, engineers, and site leaders to identify opportunities that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee experience.* Apply Lean principles and tools to support system and process improvements, including: + Standard Work + Ergonomics + SMED + Kanban + Value Stream Mapping + 5S* Help prioritize improvement opportunities based on business needs, including growth, safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash flow.* Support Lean Kaizen events by helping coordinate activities, preparing materials, documenting action items, and supporting teams through implementation.* Conduct process observations and reviews to identify opportunities for improvement and help create or revise standardized work procedures.* Encourage employee involvement and engagement by gathering feedback and supporting open communication throughout improvement initiatives.* Track and communicate project progress, key learnings, and results to teams.* Receive coaching and mentorship from Continuous Improvement leaders while building practical experience with Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies. **YOU HAVE:** * High school diploma required.* 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment, such as an operator, assembler, technician, team lead, or similar hands-on production role.* Exposure to Lean or continuous improvement concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, standard work, visual management, or daily improvement activities preferred.* Ability to observe processes, identify opportunities, and contribute practical solutions that improve performance.* Strong collaboration skills and a desire to work closely with production teams on the manufacturing floor.* Interest in learning Lean tools and applying them to real-world business challenges.* Computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
