Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Lean Specialist to support a hyperscale data center project in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This on-site role focuses on Lean and Continuous Improvement across design, procurement, construction and CQV phases, collaborating with project teams to implement Lean strategies and training internal staff and trade partners.

You will lead LPS activities, manage related software, and promote visual management, 5S and other lean processes to drive efficiency and safety on the site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or construction management is desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in design/construction with emphasis in manufacturing, life science environments, or EPCM projects.
  • Proficiency in Last Planner System is required; knowledge of 5S and other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lean and Continuous Improvement activities for Life Science projects in the U.S. and coordinate with Project Management teams across design, procurement, construction and CQV phases.
  • Assist the team in implementing strategies, procedures, and protocols for lean processes; train internal staff, vendors and trade partners.

As a Lean Specialist, you'll join our collaborative team providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery. We are looking for a passionate Lean Leader who is driven by collaboration, exceeding expectations, and challenging the status quo.

We're seeking to hire a Lean Specialist to support our hyperscale data center project in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This is an On-Site role supporting a large construction project.

You will work closely with the Director of Lean Implementation and Process Improvement to implement strategies, procedures, and protocols for all of Life Sciences North America. Your responsibilities will include training of internal staff, our vendors and trade partners, as well as coaching the next generation of Lean Leaders.

Your responsibilities will include leading Lean and Continuous Improvement activities for a variety of Life Science projects located in the U.S. You will be responsible to work with Project Management teams to implement strategies for design, procurement, construction and CQV phases of projects. You will aid teams in alignment with the client and our vendor and trade partners, coordinating lean processes with a variety of initiatives such as safety, digital delivery, offsite fabrication and modularization and IPD strategies.

This role will be responsible for the following With a focus on Lean in the construction phase, you will assist the team in standing up the Last Planner System® including facilitation of the various LPS elements. You will manage the LPS software, including training both Jacobs personnel and our trade partners to utilize the selected collaboration software. Additionally, you will aid the team with visual management, 5S, and other construction related lean processes.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction management is desired
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and / or construction industry with an emphasis in a varied range of complex manufacturing, life science environments, or EPCM projects
  • Proficiency in the implementation of Last Planner System® is required; knowledge of 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Strong technical skills in engineering, preconstruction, and / or construction management
  • LCI Certified Practitioner-Construction is desired, but not required
  • Experience with vPlanner, Touchplan, or other similar LPS software is preferred
  • Competent computer skills to include MS Word and Excel are required
  • Strong writing skills, negotiation skills, and communication and interpersonal skills are required

The base salary range for this position is $111,500.00 to $153,300.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
