Great Dane LLC is hiring a Lean Specialist at our Terre Haute, IN plant. You will design, build, and implement 5S across the factory, driving continuous improvement and supporting ORLOE problem-solving methods.

You’ll influence site-wide lean initiatives and mentor teams to elevate engagement and performance. The role requires strong knowledge of lean concepts (5S, VSM, Kanban, Kaizen, standard work), plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.

THE ROLE

The Position: As a Lean Specialist, you will be responsible for the design, building, and implementation of 5S throughout the factory. In this position you will have the opportunity to provide vision and support for 5S implementation; facilitate improvement efforts (5S, CIW’S, etc.) and utilize ORLOE Problem Solving methods to identify project areas.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Participate and implement in process improvements using Great Dane techniques such as 5S, CIW (Continuous Improvement Workshops), and other lean tools.
• Follow direction of the Lean Leader to collect observations, ideas, and solutions for improvement projects.
• Mentor the team and motivate them towards a higher level of involvement and understanding.
• Prepare/install visual postings for 5S and improvements (signs, markings, etc.).
• Look for potential cost savings in the work process.
• Audit completed 5S/Improvement Process to ensure compliance and sustainment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS):

• Employee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day.
• Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description.
• Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in use of all supplies.
• The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a manner in which they meet or exceed the expectations.
• Formal courses or designation in Lean/Kaizen/Six Sigma preferred.
• Aptitude to learn and retain new information.
• Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of lean concepts, including 5S, VSM, Kanban, kaizen, standard work, etc.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Capability to promote team-working and collaboration among different functions.
• Proactive and dynamic approach in challenging existing processes and searching for new opportunities.
• Good communication skills; with shop floor operators with keen interest in continuous improvement techniques and efforts
