Job summary

Precinmac, a leading precision manufacturing company, is seeking a Continuous Improvement/Manufacturing Engineer to lead lean initiatives on site in Tualatin, Oregon.

You will coach Kaizen teams, map value streams, execute SMED trials, and partner with machinists and engineers to drive sustainable improvements that boost productivity, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Process Improvement within manufacturing.
• Hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes; CNC machining (multi-axis milling and turning) strongly preferred.
• Solid command of Lean and CI methodologies and experience leading projects or Kaizen events.
• Analytical problem-solver who converts data into action and measurable results.
• Strong project management, organization, and follow-through.
• Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ERP and/or MES.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end continuous improvement initiatives that lift productivity, quality, cost, safety, and delivery.
• Cross-functional prioritization with machinists, supervisors, engineers, and leadership to focus on high-impact opportunities.
• Data-driven analysis of efficiency, scrap, rework, downtime, and delivery performance to identify constraints and waste.
• Year-over-year Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) gains through structured projects and verified savings.
• Kaizen events from chartering to implementation, follow-up, and sustainment.
• Lean tools in action: 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, Mistake-Proofing, and TPM.
• Idea flow via our Precinmac Way huddle boards and TPW system—moving ideas from insight to implementation.
• Standardized work and process documentation to drive repeatability and training.
• Daily management with tiered visual performance boards to surface issues and trigger rapid countermeasures.
• Training and coaching teams in Lean and CI problem-solving methods.
• Project governance: timelines, objectives, documentation, savings calculations, approvals, and sustainment tracking.
• Hands-on partnership with manufacturing so improvements are practical and stick.
• Cultural stewardship—helping make continuous improvement how we work every day.

Location: Tualatin, Oregon (on site at Shields Manufacturing — not a remote role)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Salary range: $85K–$95K annually

A day in the life: You start at the tiered visual performance boards, turning yesterday’s data—efficiency, scrap, rework, downtime, and delivery—into today’s actions. By mid-morning, you’re on the floor with machinists at multi-axis mills and lathes, running a SMED trial on a high-mix changeover. After lunch, you map a value stream, capture standardized work, and post a new countermeasure to our Precinmac Way huddle board. You finish the day coaching a Kaizen team, confirming results, and queuing sustainment checks.

What you will lead

What you bring Required

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (reputable provider).
• Experience with Infor10 ERP (Syteline) and ShopVue.
• Kaizen facilitation and internal Lean/CI capability building.
• Deep familiarity with CNC machining workflows.

Compensation, classification, and compliance

Salary range: $85K–$95K annually, plus benefits listed above.
