Job summary

A.O. Smith is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to assist in planning and coordinating manufacturing processes. You will work with engineers and other functions to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in production environments.

Responsibilities include lean planning, work-force utilization analysis, and equipment/tooling solutions to balance cost and lead time. A background in engineering and at least 1 year of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field is required.
• 1+ years related work experience is expected.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedural manuals.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, preparation, and implementation of lean process plans for new and improved products.
• Assist in analysis of workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout for efficiency.
• Provide input to manufacturing, equipment, and tooling solutions to balance cost and lead time.
• Coordinate design concept proposals for project evaluations and cost estimates.
• Support time studies, layout, and production time analyses for upgrades and improvements.
