Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group in Grand Prairie, TX seeks a Lead Person with welding knowledge to supervise pipe finishing, outlets and loading on a 5pm–5am shift.

You will coordinate material deliveries, read blueprints, ensure safety and quality, and develop plans to meet deadlines while mentoring a production team.

This outdoor plant role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, strong practical experience, and a commitment to zero defects and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Requires 2 years leading a team in manufacturing or production support.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required; must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate critical areas of pipe finishing, outlets/specials and loading.
• Coordinate and assure proper material deliveries.
• Ensure safety, quality, and production objectives are met on the floor with practical experience to reinforce best practices.
• Develop action plans to meet deadlines and responsibilities.
• Monitor personnel for adherence to company policies and productivity.
• Read blueprints and specifications and be technically proficient.
• Produce a quality product that meets customer drawings and specs.
• Communications and Training.
• Maintain order and strive for zero defects and incidents.
• Evaluate personnel.

Lead Person

Shift: 5pm-5am

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead and coordinate critical areas of pipe finishing, outlets/specials and loading.
• Coordinate and assure proper material deliveries
• Ensure safety, quality, and production objectives are met by being a presence on the floor with practical relevant experience to reinforce best practices.
• Develop action plans in order to meet deadlines and responsibilities.
• Monitor personnel for adherence to company policies and productivity
• Read blueprints and specifications and be technically proficient
• Produce a quality product (including quality evaluations) that meets the customers’ expectations while ensuring that drawings and job specifications are followed
• Communications and Training
• Performs requirements to satisfy company procedures including administrative requirements
• Maintain order
• Strives for zero defects and incidents
• Evaluate personnel

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• 2 years of Leading experience leading a team in the manufacturing or production support process.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. Must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

Physical Demands

• Requires the ability to communicate effectively.
• Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching; the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
• Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature, exposure to dust and fumes.
• Use of ear plugs and other PPE – such as hard hat, steel-toes boots, gloves and safety glasses as required.

Work Environment:

This position is not a warehouse job. The candidate will work in an outdoor plant environment and may be exposed to weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other temperatures changes.
