Job summary

Success Academy Charter Schools is seeking a Leader, Cloud Engineering to automate and manage our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable systems that support core business functions.

You will lead cloud infrastructure (AWS), configure DNS, deploy new applications, and work with vendors to secure needed services. Strong scripting, IaC, and monitoring skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of tech experience with at least 3 years as a Sr. DevOps Engineer or equivalent.
• Familiar with IaC code review in Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Basic knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
• In-depth understanding of AWS products and limitations.
• Basic understanding of GCP APIs and multi-cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby, Shell).
• Understanding of GitOps and CI/CD workflows on major platforms.
• Experience with containerization on Linux using a major orchestrator (K8s/Nomad/Swarm).
• Proficient with at least one monitoring platform (Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana).
• Strong communication and ability to maintain runbooks and design docs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure stability and efficient operation of on-premise and cloud systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Infrastructure to meet business objectives.
• Manage SA’s cloud infrastructure including AWS configurations and DNS.

• Negotiate with vendors to secure system products and services.
• Monitor system performance and prepare performance reports.
• Develop automated provisioning/permissions for third-party apps.
• Create and maintain configuration/mapping documentation and service records.

About the Role

The Leader, Cloud Engineering is responsible for the automation, configuration, and management of the business’s on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure, and the design and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This role will:

• Collaborate with Engineering, Infrastructure, and teams outside of Technology to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems to meet business objectives.
• Manage and oversee SA’s cloud infrastructure, including AWS configurations, DNS, and various SaaS products.
• Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing processes.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
• Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
• Develop and maintain automated provisioning / permissions for third-party applications.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.

Qualifications

• 5 years of tech experience with at least 3 years as a Sr. DevOps Engineer or equivalent.
• High level of familiarity with reviewing and authoring IaC code in either Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Basic knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
• In-depth understanding of AWS products and their subsequent limitations and mechanics.
• Basic understanding of GCP API’s and multi-cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one modern scripting language (Python, Ruby, Sh, etc)
• Basic understanding of GitOps and or other development workflows on at least one major CI/CD platform.
• Basic understanding of containerization under Linux using at least 1 major orchestration framework (Nomad, K8s, Swarm).
• In-depth experience and proficiency with at least 1 major monitoring platform ( Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana, etc).
• Strong organizational and communication skills with a history of maintaining runbooks and design documentation.

Compensation Range $205,000 — $225,000 USD
