Job summary

Pick Your Part in Anaheim is seeking a hands-on Yard Lead to join our outdoor processing team. You will review work, allocate resources, and guide staff in removing parts from cars while maintaining safety and efficiency.

This role emphasizes leadership, problem-solving, and compliance with EPA/OSHA rules as the site handles dismantling, staging, and stocking parts for resale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience required; Fully competent in job requirements; In-depth knowledge and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and basic software applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the work of others who perform essentially the same work; set priorities and schedule as needed.
• Operate forklift or loader to move cars when required.
• Dismantle tires and pull out batteries to test and resell; stage cars in yard.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment; ensure EPA/OSHA compliance.

Perform work outdoors in the yard, removing parts from cars. Serves in a lead capacity by reviewing work, allocating resources, and providing solutions to staff issues.

Essential Job Duties

• Serve, as needed, in a lead capacity to peers by reviewing work, accepting special assignments, and solving routine issues.
• May operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving cars from processing to the yard.
• Clean out debris from cars before they go into the processing area.
• Pull out batteries to be tested and resold. Bring charged batteries to the retail area.
• Work with the Loader Operator to properly stage or pull cars in the yard.
• Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard.
• Dismantle tires.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Ensure all EPA and OSHA regulations are being met.
• Wear all required PPE.
• Comply with established company policies and procedures.
• Initiate and support the continual improvement of LKQ’s quality improvement system.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Lead the work of others who perform essentially the same work. May set priorities, schedule, and review work, but have no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance, and/or make pay decisions.

Education & Experience

• 3+ years of related experience required; Fully competent in job requirements; In-depth knowledge and experience.

Preferred Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
• Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain, and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives.
• Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others, and make presentations to the department or middle management.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
• The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
• Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
