Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Lead Wound Care Nurse to supervise the wound care team, educate staff, and provide direct patient care for wound assessment and education. The role emphasizes establishing care standards and preventing hospital-acquired pressure injuries.

The Lead WCN will lead investigations, develop action plans, and ensure adherence to nursing policies and procedures, aligning with the unit’s administrative and clinical needs.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must complete within 2 years of hire.
• Minimum two years experience in wound care.
• Minimum one year acute care nursing experience.
• CWOCN or CWCN certification required within 2 years of hire.
• Current California RN license and BLS card are required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the wound care team and educate hospital staff on wound management and prevention of nosocomial pressure injuries.
• Provide direct patient care for evaluation and education purposes.
• Establish and maintain practice standards and ensure adherence to policies/procedures for care of patients with pressure injuries.
• Coordinate investigation on improvements in nursing care when hospital-acquired pressure injuries occur; lead in developing action plans to prevent recurrences.
