Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced wetland ecologist to join a collaborative ecology team focused on wetland delineations, regulatory compliance, and environmental assessments across the Midwest. The role includes field surveys, data analysis, and reports for diverse projects including energy, transportation, and development.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant wetland and plant/soil identification experience, and the ability to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Qualifications

• Minimum BS degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with plant, soil, and wetland identification in the Midwest.
• Experience leading wetland delineations per USACE Manual and regional supplements.
• Preference for PWS certification or state wetlands licensure.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% and work long field hours.
• Experience with mapping apps Field Maps and Survey123.

Responsibilities

• Lead wetland delineations in the Midwest region and regulate federal/state requirements.
• Conduct botanical surveys, habitat mapping, and endangered species assessments.
• Prepare wetland delineation and technical reports for clients and regulators.
• Support environmental permitting and compliance activities.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary environmental assessments.
• Manage data and perform analyses; attend client/regulatory meetings.
• Contribute to wildlife surveys and ecological restoration tasks as needed.
